Also, Spain is known for the good atmosphere among people, as we are known for being friendly and sociable. If you are worried about not making friends or not fitting in, don’t worry, you will never feel lonely!

On the other hand, if there is a city known for being the most cosmopolitan and full of things to do, that is Madrid.

The capital is one of the cities that welcomes the most foreigners and nationals in Spain. This is due to the fact that this city is known for being the “city that never sleeps”, something very sought after by students who want to live their best years full of fun and university life.

Getting around Madrid is quite easy, as it is a city that has very good, easy to understand and, most importantly, cheap public and private transport services. The capital offers a wide variety of things to do, some more cultural and others more leisure and fun. The best places to eat

The capital has a wide range of gastronomic opportunities that you will have to discover and that will leave you satisfied. We’ll start with the La Latina neighbourhood, which is the city’s tapas district par excellence. There are several terraces near Plaza del Cascorro and, if you’re looking for one of the best potato omelettes in Madrid, you have to go to “Juana la Loca”. Close to this neighbourhood, we find Chueca, where you will find restaurants and bars to have something different, such as vegan, Asian, and fusion restaurants, among others. Our recommendation is Casa Lolea, where you will find the most suggestive sangrias and tapas.

On the other hand, there is the Chamberí neighbourhood, where, who hasn’t heard of Calle Ponzano? In recent years this area has become increasingly popular, as no matter what time you go, it is always full of people. A restaurant that would be one of our suggestions is El Sainete, a place for craft beer lovers.

Finally, there is Malasaña, the trendiest neighbourhood of recent years. It is known for the great gastronomy of its restaurants and its extravagant décor, making it well known all over Madrid.

Places to drink and enjoy

You can find different bars and terraces where you can enjoy a beer, or if you prefer, a cocktail with views of the city. If you want stunning views of Madrid, you should go up to the rooftop of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, or to the terrace of Picalagartos, located at Gran Vía 21.

On the other hand, if you prefer to have a beer with your friends in a more atmospheric place, going to the centre of Madrid is a great idea. Among the areas with the most bars are Lavapiés, Alonso Martínez, and the area of Sol and Tribunal. One of our recommendations is the Pez Tortilla bar, where you can choose from more than 70 types of beer and enjoy some dreamy tapas.

Do you prefer nightclubs? Nightlife areas

Madrid has an infinite number of nightclubs, each with a different atmosphere. Among them, we would highlight the Kapital discotheque, as it is the most famous in the city. It is built in an old theatre, and has seven floors with different types of music on each floor. On the other hand, if you are looking for an area full of nightclubs for the younger ones, there is the so-called “bajos de Orense”, where you will find several nightclubs to choose from.

However, going out to party does not only mean going to a discotheque, as in Madrid you will find different bars with live music and dj’s in the areas of Malasaña and Chueca that will not disappoint you..

Among them is the Prado Museum, which you can enter for free if you are a student between 18 and 25 years old and you can visit one of the most famous works, Las Meninas. We also recommend the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, located next to the Puerta de Atocha, where you can see one of the most famous works of the painter Pablo Picasso, the Guernica. On the other hand, there are other museums that you will also like, such as the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the National Archaeological Museum.

One of the most famous green spaces in Madrid is the Retiro Park, next to the emblematic Puerta de Alcalá, and close to one of the most commercial areas of the city, Calle Goya. In this park you can visit the Palacio de Cristal, and sit and enjoy the views of the pond from the lawn or from a terrace. Also, if you want to spend the day in the gardens, you can have a picnic with your friends and enjoy a sunny day.

Are you a student? If so, Madrid is without doubt the ideal city for you to live in and have a good time.
